Development Forecast of Non-woven Fabrics Machinery in Construction Industry
Non-woven fabric is the “eternal star” of the construction market. Although you can’t usually see them, non-woven fabrics play an important role in building construction and renovation of old buildings-they can be building cladding materials, roofing materials, window waterproofing, heat insulation and sound insulation, as well as in many areas. Manufacturers of non-woven fabrics and composites are optimistic about the future development of non-woven fabrics in the construction market.
According to Nico Del Monaco, a European and vice president of non-woven fabrics and glass fiber reinforced materials division of Owens Corning, he says that the non-woven fabric construction market is growing in all regions, which is mainly due to the development of residential and commercial construction markets and the shift to composite materials in these areas. “Composite materials are reshaping the construction market. With the help of glass fiber reinforced materials and special non-woven fabrics, we will turn standard construction materials into high-performance products and systems. We expect this trend to continue. ”
Owen Corning is developing new solutions to support composite materials to penetrate more new markets in the future. “The ongoing shift in the construction market from paper and felt to non-woven solutions is an excellent example.” Del Monaco added.
Cordoba Focus on Sustainability
Freudenberg Performance Materials said that it has a 40% market share in the roofing industry. At the same time, it also saw the increasing use of non-woven fabrics in construction. The market continues to develop products that can bring more value to end users. The company also believes that composite materials are making continuous progress in the construction market. “The new generation of’ composite technology’ is opening up new fields of application to strengthen the protection of buildings and bring higher quality of life to people in living areas.
“Dr. Frank Heislitz, a Chief Executive Officer of Cordoba High Performance Materials, said,” The strong development of’ green buildings has provided further impetus to the building materials market. End users are demanding more and more sustainable products and obviously favor environmentally friendly substitutes and recycled materials. ”
Confronted with such a market environment, Cordoba is already well prepared and therefore competent for this task. The company’s production process starts with the recovery of PET bottles after consumption, which is its main raw material. They selected, cleaned and pressed them into plastic bottles. These plastic bottles are converted into staple fibers or directly used in spun bond production to produce recycled polyester nonwoven fabrics. “Recycling PET bottles means that we can replace the original materials with recycled polyester of the same quality, thus saving natural resources.” Heislitz explained.
Polyester nonwoven fabric is the most commonly used substrate because it can combine good mechanical strength with high elongation at break. In the reinforced products made of glass fiber by Cordoba, the elasticity of polyester is combined with the stability of glass to make non-woven fabrics that have excellent running performance. Heislitz added: “Therefore, when it is used in high temperature and high speed asphalt production lines, the asphalt film will have excellent dimensional stability and long durability.”
